Mario Badescu Silver Powder

My t-zone tends to get very congested, no matter what I do and since I've stopped using harsh scrubs and pore strips it's only gotten worse. When I came across Mario Badescu Silver Powder on BeautyBay, meant to clear your pores without being too intensive, I thought I would give it a go.

What would I have to lose except £11?*

I don't know why, but I was surprised it was such a loose powder.

To use you take a dampened cotton ball, dip it in the powder and then dab it onto the places where you get blackheads. When wet, the powder forms a clay based paste. You leave it on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove it using a cotton pad soaked in toner. You're meant to do this 2-3 times a week.

The first time I used it, I didn't use much product and I couldn't see too dramatic a difference. My nose definitely felt smoother and looked less congested. But, the more I used it, the bigger difference I'm beginning to see. I couldn't get a decent photo of my skin before to compare, which is a shame.

Basically, whenever I use this powder, my t-zone is completely cleared of any blackheads and stays that way for a little while. I don't understand how this works. They just disappear without scrubbing or extraction. They're just gone! My pores also look a little smaller so I started using it on my forehead as well. Obviously the blackheads return because, no matter what I do, my skin is a magnet to dirt - but it works. It really does.

I love that you only need a tiny bit. One dip into the pot with a damp cotton ball and I can do my entire t-zone. I'm quite liberal with my skin care products (but I'm trying to be better, I promise) so something expensive that I use a tiny amount of, but still feel like I'm using loads, that will last me months is definitely better than buying cheap and often.

No matter what products I use before or after, the Silver Powder works exactly the same and doesn't cause any reactions or reddening of the skin. I've often found that with some brands you need to use the same line and can't switch out (e.g. Garnier toner and L'Oreal moisturiser) but it makes no difference.

My only tiny little complaint is that it's a bit messy. The powder does kick up a bit if you're not delicate with your tapping into the tub. Also, when it starts to dry, it flakes off. This doesn't bother me much because it's very easy to clean up.

My skin feels so clean and clear after using this and I will 100% be repurchasing. It's very quickly become a staple in my skin care routine and I'm so glad that I found it.

*the price has since increased to £12.
