Birchbox July 2018 - Final Box?

After the disappointment that was my June Birchbox, I was in two minds whether to continue with the subscription. I did figure out that the extra samples for reviews were to be included on a separate order but 🤷I still wasn't over the moon with the products I received. Ultimately I decided to give them one last chance in July.

In mid June I got the option to choose between two "finishing powders" and immediately forgot which one I picked. Also, they clearly weren't finishing powders and instead a bronzer and a blusher.

I also resisted the urge to check up on my box this month. I kept away from the website and it was delivered before I even got the notification that it was dispatched.

July's box was nice, but not a drawer like the others, which confused me as I assumed they'd all be the same. Either way, it'll come in handy for something. The pattern was a bit basic. I also accidentally drew on it as I opened the outer packaging with a pen.

Birchbox July 2018

Here's what I got....

1. BeautyPro Eye Therapy Under Eye Mask with Collagen and Green Tea Extract
I do like eye masks as they're relaxing and make me feel just a bit pampered. They'll get used but they're not exactly a thrill.

2. Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
My skin is combination, but has begun to dry out recently due to the heat so I don't know if this will be something I'll use until the weather starts to cool down again. I've gone back to my beloved Vichy Normaderm Anti-Blemish Moisturiser which has cleared up my skin, but I could try this on the occasional break out in the mean time.

3. Manna Kadar Beauty Paradise Blush
This is actually very pretty but in the photos it looks a lot lighter than it is. The photos being fairly off is a common theme with Birchbox when it comes to choosing shades. The eyeshadow I received previously looked like a champagne until I received it. It's very reminiscent of the Sleek Rose Gold shimmer blush as it has a lot of gold glitter running through it. I might pass this on to someone else.

4. Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Satin
Okay, I am very happy with this. It's the first Eyeko product I've ever had, in a soft grey shade that I like and will probably use for a wash of colour when I really can't be arsed with eyeshadow but want to look pretty.

5. What's In It For Me...? Shower Scrub
I love body scrubs, so this is definitely something that I'll hang on to. The scent is lovely, but it's got nothing on my favourite Soap&Glory Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub, which smells like cinnamon oatmeal.

Overall, I like all the products this month, however I've now cancelled my subscription to Birchbox. I love skin care as much as the next person but this box is definitely heavy on products I could do without. The makeup that I have received has been fine, but there's nothing that I've been obsessed with. It's just not for me, I'm afraid.
