Youtube Hyped Products I Didn't Like

Over the last couple of years I've tested out a lot of makeup. Some of them are very popular items that a huge amount of the Youtube community seemed to really love and when I tested them out I was left feeling incredibly confused - because I didn't like them at all.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless

Why Don't I Like It?
I tried this out a couple of times and thought I had made up my mind so I wrote a whole post about it. I thought I liked it.

After testing it a bit more I realised it's not a good foundation for combination skin. It does not really skim my pores, it leaves my cheeks painfully dry and my t-zone oily as hell. It also oxidises and no matter what shade, it always looks off . Further more, nothing will blend nicely on top of it and my concealer always gunks up or instantly separates. If I add any powders at all it looks so dry and if I use cream products they just remove the foundation as it sets so quickly.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

This isn't the worst offender on this list but I seriously don't understand the hype surrounding it. It doesn't conceal that much and when it does, it oxidises a shade darker than your foundation. On top of that, around the eyes it ends up dry and crepe-y. It dried out my under-eyes within a week of using it and I've only just managed to get them back to normal - 18 months later.

Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte Powder

This powder had it's moment in the sun on Youtube and I'll admit it, I fell into the hype trap head first. It was a cheap powder, by a brand that I already liked, that was meant to give me matte skin. Not exactly lofty claims, but this was awful. It gave a white cast to the skin, didn't actually mattify anything and didn't even set my foundation. It also weirdly developed hard pan within a few days, making it completely useless as a setting powder.

L'Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara

Why Don't I Like It?
This is one of the few products that I actually hate. It is undoubtedly the worst mascara I've ever tried and I refuse to accept that the majority of reviews weren't bought - they had to have been, it's literally rubbish. The wand looks like a weird torture device from a Saw film, it clumps all your lashes together into spikes like a bad 90s fringe, it doesn't lengthen, volumise or curl. It's a bastard to remove, it smudges and flakes - who really liked this? Please, tell me.

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation

I found this about 2 minutes before it blew up online and I really, really like it. It's demi-matte, makes your skin look flawless and can easily be built from medium to full coverage. It's also cheap at only £5.95 a bottle and a tiny little dot goes a very long way. I bought the wrong shade for full coverage (its more yellow toned than I am) but it works incredibly well for medium. It's long lasting and sits so nicely on the skin - much better than any other cheap foundation I've tried.

Are there any hyped products you didn't like?
